These two sister camps are the only Malawi safari accommodation in Liwonde National Park, which has the accolades of being the 'finest park in the whole of Malawi' and the 'best birding location in Southern Africa'. Mvuu Camp gives the same bush experience as its sister camp, but with a somewhat less exclusive atmosphere.
There is a choice of en-suite chalets or comfortable walk-in tents that share ablution facilities with a campsite. The thatched lounge looks out onto the Shire River and dinner is often served in the open-air boma or on the banks of the river. A soft grass lawn stretches down to the river and the wooden riverside bench is a great place to sit and watch the multitude of birds on the sandbanks.
During the dry months, herds of Elephants can be seen from the bar or open-boma. Liwonde National Park has plenty of game including beautiful Sable Antelope, plus outstanding success with Black Rhino, who have been breeding well ever since they were introduced in 1997.
Evening game viewing by boat is a speciality, as are bicycle trips to a Malawian village where you can stay overnight on your safari in Malawi. Also on offer are overnight stays at a nearby bird hide and half day walks along the river. Families are welcome at Mvuu Camp.
